Course Facilitators

The MSK GP Training Day Courses are delivered by our team of Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners. They are experts in MSK management and have delivered sessions to a variety of multi-disciplinary teams. They work across both secondary and primary care and understand the challenges that clincians face daily.

Uzo Ehiogu
Clinical Lead, MSK Academy and Consultant in MSK Rehabilitation and Physical Preparation

Uzo is an accomplished clinician, educator and leader in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and strength & conditioning. He currently serves as Clinical Lead for the MSK Academy at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, where he helps design and deliver training to empower first-contact practitioners, GPs, and allied health professionals. With dual MSc qualifications in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy and strength & conditioning, along with bachelor degrees in applied sports science and physiotherapy, Uzo brings a rare blend of academic rigor and applied performance knowledge to his work. He is also a Professional Doctorate candidate in Strength & Conditioning and Rehabilitation at St Mary’s University, and is accredited as a UKSCA Strength & Conditioning Coach (ASCC).

Before his current roles, Uzo served in high-performance and military settings, including as a Royal Marines Commando and British Army physiotherapy and rehabilitation officer, experience that shaped his holistic view of physical preparation, injury prevention, and clinical performance. He advises organisations and clinicians on performance optimisation, running courses and workshops nationally and internationally. Uzo is also active in academia, acting as Visiting Research Fellow at Leeds Beckett University (Centre for Human Performance) and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham Medical School.

Dave Rogers
Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP), MSK Transformation Lead, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

David Rogers is a highly experienced chartered physiotherapist with nearly 30 years of clinical practice in musculoskeletal pain and rehabilitation. Based at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, he has pioneered integrated physical–psychological care models for persistent spinal pain and led the development of the hospital’s interdisciplinary “Back to Life” programme.

He holds a master’s degree in Pain Science and Management from Keele University, and his early training includes a degree in Sports Studies and qualifying as a physiotherapist from the University of Birmingham. Dave also holds leadership roles beyond direct patient care: he is leading an MSK transformation programme across the Birmingham & Solihull integrated care system (ICS), helping shape how back pain and musculoskeletal services are delivered.

His clinical philosophy is rooted in the biopsychosocial model: he trains organisations and professionals to reduce back pain disability by integrating physical interventions and psychological considerations. Dave is active in research into back pain, contributing to trials and publications, and he also authors public and professional materials, including the book Back to Life, a patient-oriented self-help guide for persistent back. At ROH, he established a combined physical–psychological treatment pathway for persistent back pain, embedded within an interdisciplinary team, collaborating closely with spinal surgeons and physicians to ensure seamless clinical pathways.
