Save the date for the Orthopaedic Nursing & AHP Conference 2027. The theme, Embedding Evidence into Everyday Practice, will explore how orthopaedic nurses, allied health professionals and multidisciplinary teams can translate evidence into meaningful improvements for patients, services and outcomes.

Join us for a day of learning, networking and professional development featuring:

  • Inspiring keynote speakers including Professor Ian Horsely and Dr Gail Parsons
  • Oral presentations showcasing research, quality improvement and service development projects
  • Interactive workshops focused on applying evidence in everyday clinical settings
  • Opportunities to connect and share best practice with colleagues from across orthopaedic care

2027 Keynote Speakers

Professor Dr Ian Horsley is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with over 30 years of experience; 25 years of which he has been working with elite athletes.

He developed and interest in the shoulder whilst working for the Rugby Football Union, where he was a physiotherapist working with England Students, England 7’s, England ‘A’ and  supporting the Elite Development Squad  in England’s World Cup Winning year. Along side this, Ian has worked in club rugby with Wakefield RUFC, Rotherham Titans RUFC, Doncaster Knights, RUFC, and Leeds Carnegie RUFC. He was also Head of Science and Medicine for Toronto Wolfpack ; the world’s first transatlantic sports team (Rugby League).

Alongside his role as Clinical Director of Back In Action Rehabilitation, Ian is one of the Athlete Health Lead Physiotherapists at the UK Sports Institute, where he leads on management of the upper limb within elite sport.

Professor Dr Gail Parsons is a Nurse Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics and Director of Research and Innovation at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust and joins the 2027 Orthopaedic Nursing and AHP Conference as keynote speaker. She brings with her over 40 years of nursing experience with a particular focus on osteoarthritis, symptom management for hip and knee surgery alongside orthopaedic and trauma-related research.  

Dr Parsons is part of Aston Research Centre for Health and Aging's steering group aiming to understand, predict, prevent and treat age-related degeneration and disease. She was appointed Honorary Associate Professor in Practice at the College of Health and Life Sciences, Aston University in 2024.
