ROH International Spasticity Day

This is a free event, open to both our surgical and non-surgical/ rehabilitation colleagues who play a pivotal role in delivering spasticity services across the UK. It is aimed at covering assessment and management of  patients with spasticity, with a particular focus on merits of surgical intervention, including patient selection and surgical options that exist and are offered.

Join us for ROH's first International Spasticity Day

Collaborating across disciplines to advance surgical and rehabilitation care for spasticity. 

This course will be delivered by the Birmingham Upper and Lower Limb Spasticity Service at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. 

We are honoured to welcome our esteemed colleagues from Shanghai, including Professor Wendong Xu, President of the Chinese Society for Surgery of the Hand (CSSH) and Vice-President of Huashan Hospital, Fudan University: Professor Xu is a globally recognised hand and peripheral nerve surgeon and a pioneer of the contralateral C7 nerve transfer, and will share his insights into the use of this innovative procedure to treat spasticity. The programme will also include presentations for our non-surgical colleagues.

  • The role of Diagnostic Blocks and Botulinum toxin in surgical planning
  • Rehabilitation management
